Naval Commander of the Port, this School is going to train

pilots on both land and sea planes and they are building an

aerodrome on the harbour front at Chan Choo Oa, the aero-

drome will not be very large, I estimate that when finished

it will be 700 yds by 400 yds at the best, and a considerable

amount of work will have to be carried out before it will be

fit for machines to land on and take off from.

The foundations are already being laid for a very

large hangar, so placed that it will obstruct the landing

on the aerodrome when the wind is in the prevailing direction.

I did my best to get them to change this position but I am

afraid it is too late and that they will proceed.

However,

it is so placed that it can be used with reasonable ease by

either land or seaplane.

by the end of May 1929.

It is hoped to have it finished

Two months ago the persons responsible dispatched a

representative to Germany and England to buy aircraft, I

gather that he is in England at the present time and I am

making efforts through Messrs. Boyd and Company to get into

touch with him by cable so that the English firms may locate

him and try to get orders.

If the plans proceed on the lines detailed to me

this School should prove to be quite an important factor in

Chinese Aviation.

Yours sincerely,

R. Vaughan-Fowler.
